After 20 months of sharing a studio at Phoenix Brighton I now finally have my own studio space ! Have spent the last couple of weeks sanding, filling, cleaning and painting ceiling, walls and floor and now can finally get things and loom set up and get on with some work…. !
I would like to warmly invite you to my forthcoming first open studio weekend here at Phoenix Brighton. This is happening as follows;
Friday 18th May – Opening Party- 6pm – 9pm
Saturday 19 May 11am – 5pm
Sunday 20 May 11am – 5pm
You will find me on the Second Floor studio number 2S8. I am currently sharing a small studio, and still hoping to get a Phoenix studio of my own in the near future!
I will be selling my limited edition collage works titled ‘All the clothes I have ever thought about…’ at £2 each throughout the open studio weekend. You may also find me in some other clothes……
You can also view my work ‘In 1962 the birth control pill was available…’ in the South Gallery at Phoenix Brighton until the 27th May. Open Wed – Sun 11 am – 5 pm. She is part of the current ‘Phoenix Artists’ Exhibitions part of Open Studios. You can’t miss her either as she is cerise and can be seen from the pavement!
There are currently over 100 Artists at Phoenix Brighton so lots to see and do under one roof ! Please visit the Phoenix website for location and further information about the weekend. https://www.phoenixbrighton.org/
I hope you can make it at some point, and please feel free to bring another.
In three weeks’ time I will be working on-site on my installation for Offerings for R-Space Gallery, Lisburn. Have been thinking through and rehearsing how to install, but I suspect this will all change on location, due to light, environment and emotional state ! I am looking forward to working with the space. http://www.rspacelisburn.com/offerings/
After 16 creative years at Robertson Yard Studios, I have now re-located studio to Phoenix Brighton.There are over 100 artists based at phoenix Brighton from a range of different practices, along with a Gallery and Education programme…. I am really looking forward to getting involved with this unique community of Artists. https://www.phoenixbrighton.org

In-between other works, projects and proposal writing I am still collating and typing up instalment guidelines for ‘the secrets we keep from ourselves…’ When these guidelines are complete ‘the secrets we keep from ourselves…’ will be handed over to Nottingham’s galleries and museums art and heritage collections. (Can’t wait for this to happen as this guideline writing for this particular installation seems endless!)
Thank you to everyone of came along to my afternoon studio viewing of ‘the secrets we keep from ourselves’, despite the wet and windy weather.
The work received lots of insightful and positive feedback which had been good to hear after a year of working on her stabilization which has been a very slow process.
The installation can still be viewed by appointment until Wednesday 25th November, de-installation starts on Thursday 26th November…. Please do get in contact if you would like to view the secrets we keep from ourselves’ before then.
