Two of my works will be in ‘Small Talk’ – a 62 Group of Textile Artists Exhibition at Constance Howard Gallery, Goldsmiths University of London, Deptford Town Hall, New Cross, London, SE14 6NW - 4th June to 25th July 2013. – Please come along to the Private view on Thursday 13 June – 5pm to 8pm.

I have been an exhibiting member of the 62 Group since 2002. I have been on the committee for a number of years and am currently the Groups’ education officer. For more information about the 62 Group and its members visit http://www.62group.org.uk/

Please note that the entry times to the Small Talk exhibition at the Constance Howard Gallery at Goldsmiths, London are limited. The Gallery is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays 11.00am – 5.00pm

I will be talking in the ‘Lunchtime talk’ with Artist Heather Belcher on Tuesday 4^th June. 1-2pm – 62 Group, Goldsmiths and beyond. Led by Heather Belcher & Lucy Brown takes place in the Constance Howard Gallery, Goldsmiths University of London, Deptford Town Hall, New Cross, London, SE14 6NW

62 Group Artists Heather Belcher and Lucy Brown will be in conversation, introducing the 62 Group, outlining its aims, history and its connections through textiles at Goldsmiths and beyond. As Goldsmith Textile Alumni, and 62 Group exhibiting and committee members, Heather and Lucy will reflect on their past and present individual practices and future projects of the 62 Group. There will be the opportunity to ask questions and join in discussion while having a chance to handle samples from the 62 Group’s Handling Collection.

The conversation is FREE & OPEN TO ALL – no booking required, just turn up!

I am really very pleased that my work – ‘since i fell for you…’ (2010) has been selected for the East Sussex Open 2013 at the Towner Gallery in Eastbourne. The exhibition, in its fourth year, will take place from 9 March – 28 April 2013.

Veils – A temporary outdoor work for Lace Works Exhibition by Lucy Brown

Veils, 2012. Machine lace net curtains (brise-bise) made from synthetic fibre.

Veils is a temporary intervention on the colonnade immediately outside the main entrance of Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery. The colonnade is home to a group of portrait busts – sculptures in bronze and marble of writers and poets associated with Nottingham, including Lord Byron, DH Lawrence and Henry Kirke White. For Lace Works Exhibtion, three of these portrait heads have been shrouded in fabric and the folds held in place by cord bound round each sculptural form.

Final Installation for Lace Works Exhibition at Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery.

Materials used – Nottingham Leavers Lace trim, ribbon, vintage and second hand ‘St Michaels’ (Marks and Spencer’s) and ‘Golden Charm’ negligée’s, petticoats, high neck day dress, pins, nails.

….watching ‘Blood and Black Lace’- (Italian: Sei donne per l’assassino) a 1964 Italian Giallo film directed by Mario Bava; and after the film had finished, my boyfriend thought it would be funny to act out the killer by hiding on the landing with a black lace stocking over his head….
